Proud Camden and Beats Working are thrilled to announce that The Godfather of Hip Hop Pete Rock will be in London on the 26th of February for a one-off London night. More than just a gig, the master will be giving a true masterclass in Hip Hop DJing, showcasing 30 years of music with only the best and most carefully selected tracks from Soul and Funk to Motown and Hip Hop.

New name to me DJ Four One One drops this superior remix 12’ on Japanese label Real Music Japan and random jazzy action is the order of the day here. First up, dope and slept on crew Emanon get their Detour cut re-jigged and in keeping with the vibe of Exile’s original is flipped with a funky piano beat making Aloe Blac and Dr Oop’s joyous gibberish sound just lovely. I challenge you not to nod your head to this one.

There aren’t many hip hop heads who haven’t heard of New York’s HOT 97. It’s definitely taken some twists and turns over the years, and everyone has an opinion on whether they’ve been good or bad changes. What remains is that is it is still the best known station for Urban music in New York city and some would say, the world.
