The Boom Bap - 21st July Hoxton

The Boom Bap – 21st July Hoxton

The Boom Bap! is an alternative hip-hop night in East London that blurs the boundaries between audience and DJ. How? By letting the audience become the DJ. They can pre-submit tracks to play, listen to emerging producers and beat makers, participate in open decks (think open mics but for DJs) and trade their unwanted vinyl!

Onyx Live In London - 4th August

Onyx Live In London – 4th August

The original bad boys of Def Jam, Fredro Starr and Sticky Fingaz are comin to the UK for a massive gig in August. This should be an event not to miss with a catalogue of rowdy hits from as far back as 1993's Bacdafucup LP which included Slam which should get the whole audience bouncing. Djembe Entertainment have also put some great acts on the support bill so be sure to reach Fabric on the 4th August.

DJ Woody - Technicolor Tape Volume 1 [Audio]

DJ Woody – Technicolor Tape Volume 1 [Audio]

Didn't have time to do it, but I just checked out DJ Woody's Technicolour Tape which he has made available for free download. Woody is the best DJ to never get the recognition he deserves. This mix starts out with an old electro feel with some nice 80's style rapping and then swifty moves though the genres to end up with a breakbeak mash up which was definitely well worth a listen.

Blaktrix - Sour Grapes MP3 [Skreemer Records / Associated Minds]

Blaktrix – Sour Grapes MP3 [Skreemer Records / Associated Minds]

Blaktrix is back with this bass stomping banger from the forthcoming album Some People Never Go Crazy. With Exeter's First Aid (producer of Devon Cream ft Million Dan, MC D and Rodney P) on production dropping a wobble that shakes like Queen Latifah's ass Blaktrix reminds the listener why he leads the field when flipping the mic while everyone else is drinking dry wine, sucking bitter lemons and chomping on sour grapes.

F.O.A.K. ft. KT Forester - Love Me MP3 [Foundation Rekords]

F.O.A.K. ft. KT Forester – Love Me MP3 [Foundation Rekords]

The new single Love Me is an appealing track with a contemporary sound. However, its definitely NOT a love song, and even though the music and melody might be inclusive, the lyrics do not reflect the usual phoniness of this genre. F.O.A.K. are loud, cocky and they speak their minds on any issue ("Let's talk infidelities and Ashley Cole bedding all your secretaries, come on son, is it necessary?").
