You may well have heard of the Beta Band, but maybe you are wondering how they have cropped up on here. Well I do have a varied musical taste, but really it is because for the start of his solo career as King Biscuit Time, Steve  Mason has produced quite an interesting little 7" release. Some of the Beta Band's biggest tracks were produced by Colin Emmanuel, better known in Hip Hop circles as C-Swing.
 

The living breathing embodiment of all that is Hip-hop has been carving his name into the scene’s skull with a double edged microphone for the past decade. Whether it’s as a commentator (for the number one Hip-hop Magazine HHC), an activist (he’s one 3rd of the Brotherz Grimm family), or as an emcee with unstoppable stamina (currently he holds the World Record for the Longest Freestyle at over 10 and a half hours) Ruffstylz has always taken things upwards and onwards to the next level.   

What more is there to say about Kela? Plenty actually: Pharrell Williams (The Neptunes/NERD) and Justin Timberlake think he’s the best in the world; his Rave Of The Future 10” is out now damaging record shop shelves along with the most original mix CD you’ve heard in yonks (The Day That Shook The World); his Spit Kingdom empire is now global with club dates all over Europe and constant bookings in just about every country there is and this tour is to promote his incredible new album Elocution - out on Sony/BMG from October 10th.

Swansea’s very Hip-hop nowadays and here’s a big part of the reason why: DJ Beattrix and emcees Mykes, Wes Cooze & Snow White – a deadly emcee who very nearly won at the last Higher Learning battle (big up to the reigning champion Louis). Fiercely independent and loyal to where they’re from; these guys (and a girl) spit the raw uncut and do Hip-hop proud.  

In the Bahamas Professor Green who defeated Life to represent at the Fight Klub battled his way past Serius Jones to meet Jin in the final. This is the lead single from Doc Brown's stunning The Document LP which came out on Janomi records. It is a bouncy feel good tune which should be a bit of a rump shaker, but at the same time Doc is able to convey serious and worthy topics in his lyrics.
