Asaviour has been on the rise for a few years now and his forthcoming LP 'The A Loop Theory' will surely cement him a place at the top of the UK Rap pile. Here he is talking about his past, Lowlife, who he's worked with and which tracks off his new album with DJ IQ are his favourites:
There must be no better way to begin a new year than with a massive posse cut. Jehst’s YNR label kick 2009 off in fine style with Jyager’s ‘Eyes Open’. The re-spit version is like a platter of what’s hopefully to come from the label this year. With 8 MCs jostling to ride a heavy beat mainly consisting of a fog horn and a lorry reversing this should crash into the scene with much devastation when it’s released in February.
After the release of the critically acclaimed They Don't Seem to Care Ep, Wordsmith launches his eagerly anticipated album In Pursuit of Harmony on Def Ethics recordings. With impressive integrity, style and perception, this is an outstanding body of work. Introspective lyricism combined with raw presence and charisma perfected over a decade, mark Wordsmith out as a British MC with heart and passion.
Hitting the road again after all his hard work in the studio, Wordsmith is going all out to promote his forthcoming album "In Pursuit of Harmony". One of the UK's strongest MC's is back on stage where he belongs. An awesome live performer his presence on the microphone makes an impact wherever he goes. Crowd rocking beats and scratches combined with raw charisma, wit and lyrical dexterity.
Vee Kay’s producer album ‘The Audio Workout’ is a perfectly cut gem. At 11 tracks and 34-ish minutes long it’s short but incredibly sweet. Vee Kay himself said, “I don't listen to music to bring myself down, I listen to it to try to cheer myself up” - this album makes it evident he makes music to please himself; whilst in no way soft it’s cheery stuff.
Vee Kay is an immense producer in more ways that one. He's been behind the boards for a number of acts and has produced some outstanding instrumentals. Now he has his Audio Workout LP set to drop, and our man Certified Banger caught up with Vee Kay to find out what its like...
Joker Starr aka Kebbie Conteh has been putting out dope tuneage for years now, but has been surprisingly largely over looked. Now he is back with a new track entitled Stay On The Move which features additional vocals from Micall Parknsun and is produced by Ghost Town.
You know the name!!! If not you’re seriously sleeping. After the tremendous success of the Play To Win Volume 1 and arguably one of the best albums of 2006 The Borrowed Ladder on Lowlife Records, Savvy is back with another murderous instalment of the Play To Win saga, Play To Win volume 2.
Representing real hip hop since 1999, Jehst’s YNR Productions imprint continues to set standards with yet again another certified banger, brought to you by none other then the beat-driven vinyl junkie Lenny Greenberg, aka LG.
