Frequently and best described as “Art for the gracefully unhinged“, North-East rap artist
Donimitsu displays his debut project with the mixtape Tragic Roundabout. The tape has
emerged as a trip through the mind of the artist, it harbours an immersive narrative through
displays of the mind-bending 1970’s animation’ The Magic Roundabout’.
This mixtape is host to six tracks of captivating, shadowy and ill-minded ventures as it sits on top
of calculated, ‘imaginary’ and punchy instrumentals.
All tracks are solely created by the Northern producer / rapper ‘Jack Danz‘ alongside a feature
from himself and UK Rapper ‘Fordz’. The tape awards diversity throughout by its subtle changes
and contrasts in flow, tempo and stylistic approach thus readily locking the audience into a
world within a world.
With dark, mind-bending undertones, striking punchlines and intelligent metaphorical wordplay,
this project encapsulates the very depths of alternative UK rap. Through real life, unapologetic
references and heavy imagery-based content, this debut mixtape grips from start to finish.
