‘A New Bloodline’; Sir Smurf Lil’ teams up with the current cream of UK producers - Jehst, Apa-Tight, Beat Butcha, LG, Conspicuous and Asaviour - all men well known for their dusty Hip Hop beats. Don’t take that the wrong way though; on paper ‘A New Bloodline’ may seem like a quick tracing of the UK rap outline but in reality the uniquely stylised rendering of Smurf makes this more than just a carbon copy.

On 20th September 2008, Huddersfield emcee Jack Flash took part in, and won the UK final of the End of The Weak rap battle against three other extremely talented English artists. Up against Dubbledge, Arkaic and M9, and with Chester P (Taskforce), Jehst and Reain as judges, it was always going to be a tough competition.

Dubbledge's new album The Richest Man In Babylon is dropping on Low Life Records and it's pretty damn good. I certainly feel Edge's unique take on this thing we call Hip-Hop so when I was offered the chance to ask him some questions it didn't take me long to get on it. Here we have it then, the definitive word on everything from dodgy record labels to didgeridoos...

Undoubtedly the cleverest MC in the UK right now and one of the few that can bridge the gap between the energy of Grime and the lyricism of Rap, Dubbledge’s first album for the UK’s cult Hip Hop label Low Life is a bumper collection of tracks laced with a welcome dose of intelligence, wit and a charismatic swagger.

Jehst's position as one of the most respected lyricists in the UK is more or less a given nowadays. His dense, intelligent rhymes take some getting into and his style is distinctive enough to divide opinion, but once you've break past the barrier and enter his world, the extent to which he dominates and defines a certain strain and style of UK Hip-Hop becomes both evident and wholly justifiable.

From The Sofa’ is ‘9 To 5’, an irresistibly funky summer smash that is sure to shake off those workday blues.

Dubblege is set to the next man of the moment. He has been pressing on the scene for a while now and with the video now out for last years Lips 2 Da Floor he is set to step up the pressure and take everyone by storm. Not afraid of getting on some people's nerves here he takes several side swipes at grime MCs and does it with a great deal of aplomb.

Originally hailing from Leeds, Braintax founded Lowlife Records in 1992 and is now based in London. His label roster includes some of the biggest names in British hip-hop such as Jehst, Skinnyman, Task Force, Mystro, Micall Parkinsun, Asaviour, Verb-T and Kashmere, plus new talent in the form of Dubbledge. He also co-runs Riddim Killa with the legendary Rodney P and is an MC and producer in his own right.

That's how Brains and Lowlife MC Verb T speak it on the chorus to "Pick A Subject", the 9th track on Joseph Christie's long-awaited second album "Panorama" - and that being the case, it's a good thing the man like Brando Flux has decided to make the effort.
