This is one of those producer albums you need. Not much seriously dope Hip Hop coming out of Australia for a while, so here comes Mr Volkoff to prove they still have some heavy producers down under.

Whilst everyone else is preoccupied with producing spaced out elevator music to stay on the right side of the cool, the Associated Minds crew straight out of Cardiff continue to take it back to fresh spitting emcees and that banging boom bap. To concisely quote A.M themselves: Fuck a trend.

Aidan Severs of Certified Banger caught up with SonnyJim a Brummie battle rapper who previously had out his Soul Trader EP. Now he is inked with Dented Records and is pushing his latest work, the Trading Standards mix CD. Read on to find out where he has come from and what it is like to be on the edge of something big.

As the name suggests, this event is the brain child of one half of the seminal group, Task Force, Chester P. Chester says, 'I would define the night as a unique and energetic environment where the audience scream out words of which I pick up to 5 and the 2 selected MCs battle it out, there are 8 contestants in all who must endure 3 rounds of lyrical pugilism'.

SonnyJim is a Birmingham native and over the years has become a veteran on the MC battle circuit, having dropped bars at Battlescars and Rampage. When you may have first heard of SonnyJim was his now legendary battle with Mic Assassin at the Jump Off.
