Jehst's position as one of the most respected lyricists in the UK is more or less a given nowadays. His dense, intelligent rhymes take some getting into and his style is distinctive enough to divide opinion, but once you've break past the barrier and enter his world, the extent to which he dominates and defines a certain strain and style of UK Hip-Hop becomes both evident and wholly justifiable.

It is my great pleasure to be able to review the debut album by Leeds producer and DJ Kid Kanevil, who I've seen round the way over the last few years and seems to me to be a decent and extremely talented guy. Leastways, he politely returns my MySpace comments whenever I put a new mix up. As always I'll try and be fair, balanced and constructively critical in my review.

Klinik Records has announced that the debut single release from rising hip-hop talent Jack Flash will feature an exclusive remix by Jehst, one of the UK urban music scene’s finest. Jehst’s involvement with the track reflects Flash’s rising notoriety on the UK urban music scene. The single, ‘Living Legend’, is due for launch on 4 April in CD, vinyl and download formats.

DJ IQ first shot to fame by winning the youth version of the DMC competition. Since then he has continued to build his DJ rep and is now stepping up his game by including production into his list of abilities. This is his latest production for which he has assembled one of the most awesome MC line ups to grace wax.
 

So, another week, another NewBo hip-hop connection to check out. This time, the very guy who sparked the term "(Adventures in) New Bohemia", the hardcore UK heads' favourite weed-addled word-abuser, Jehst... also known as Billy Brimstone, The Real Prince William, Jehstafairi, J-Star and probably a few billion other names he's thrown out on freestyles I haven't heard yet.

Years ago, the foundations were laid for a crew which came to be known as Young N Restless (YNR). Started by Jehst and Lexis Salinger and originally known as Fools-I-View (if I remember rightly!), Jehst went on to be the main man of YNR and one of the most well-known rappers from these shores, whilst Lexis seemed to disappear off the scene altogether.

"It's difficult to talk about something, it's easy to talk about nothing..." That's how Brains and Lowlife MC Verb T speak it on the chorus to "Pick A Subject", the 9th track on Joseph Christie's long-awaited second album "Panorama" - and that being the case, it's a good thing the man like Brando Flux has decided to make the effort.

Black Grass also known as Mex returns from Brighton with his sophomore LP entitled A Hundred Days In One which follows on from his welcomed eponymous debut. Mex has been DJing for over 20 years now and lists great influences including the Wild Bunch, Good Times and Soul II Soul sound systems and great DJs such as Jazzy Jeff and Cash Money.

Parky is back with a stormer. The first stuff from after his Working Class Dad LP which is availabe on Low Life records / Sit Tight. One of the best LPs of the year it has to be said. This video for Dun Ya is the first release from the new Jehst production LP Underworld Epics and sees Micall Parknsun hopping round the Monopoly board hounded all the way by Jehst in his comedy outfit.
